SESSION TITLE: Better Business Budgeting: A practical approach to the budget creation process

The fundamental purpose of a budget is to have more control over spending. When executed properly, the added benefits are improved awareness and visibility of spending, focus on priorities to drive revenue, ability to measure performance (KPIs), and opportunity to re-forecast throughout the year. Melissa will share her 15+ years of experience in Corporate Accounting & Finance preparing and leading budget and forecast processes, highlighting budget methods and practical application of those methods. In this session, you will learn the difference between a budget and a forecast, the three most commonly used budget methods, and the steps for creating a meaningful and useful budget, no matter what budget tool/software you use. The steps and methods can be applied to corporate, small business, solopreneur or even household budgets.
