President’s Message – Tyna Gaylor
Happy Spring, AFWA Members!
Spring is always a welcome reprieve from the harshness of winter’s bleak landscape, storms, and bitter cold — at least in my home state of Virginia. Tiny plants begin to sprout from the warming earth, buds appear on previously barren branches, and the sun slowly warms the earth. While always a joyous wonder, spring is predictable in the changes it will bring.
People, on the other hand are offered endless choices of who we will become and how we emerge from our personal “winters”. We can imagine our future selves and then develop the skills, traits, and habits to transform our lives to achieve our own expectations. If your future includes professional success, AFWA can serve as your supportive training ground, your resource for technical and professional development, education, and your opportunity to meet and learn from outstanding women who have weathered the storms, laid out their plans, and worked to achieve their aspirations and goals.
This month, I was inspired by AFWA members, Susan Adams, who was named to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and Wendi Hall, who represented AFWA by sharing her knowledge with over 1,100 attendees who tuned in to the ADP Workplace Webinar, Women Business Owners: Learning to Thrive During Change.
Who do you want to be by next spring?
AFWA is here to help you realize your dreams.

Spring is here. The season of new beginnings. The time of year to plant the seeds. By donating to the Foundation, you will be planting the seeds for the next generation of young professionals to take the next step towards their accounting or finance career. Past scholarship winners are currently being highlighted on social media so that you can see the talented and deserving students that you have so generously helped. We will be starting the application review process soon. Please let us know if you would like to be a part of the process.
Join us April 27th for Bingo Night. We had such a fun time the first bingo night that we wanted to do it again. It is a fun and relaxing evening with friends from all over the country. We laugh a lot and there are prizes for winning. I hope you can join us.
