Chapter Coaches
Connections Made Easy!
We are pleased to introduce the new AFWA Chapter Coach Program. The role of chapter coach will provide our experienced AFWA members an easy way to connect and share their experiences. This program will also provide our Chapters with important mentoring and support at a local level that has been missing without Regional Directors.

Become A Chapter Coach
Becoming a Chapter Coach is the perfect way to get more involved with AFWA. Give back your time to support chapters and help AFWA grow! Download the Chapter Coach One-Pager for more information or to share with someone else.
You should be a Chapter Coach if…
- You’re passionate about the future of AFWA!
- You’ve been a member of AFWA for at least 2 years
- You’ve held a leadership position in your local chapter or served on the National/Foundation Board — share your experience as a leader
- You’re a member-at-large with no personal chapter affiliation — becoming a Chapter Coach is a great opportunity to get to know more AFWA members both near and far
- You don’t need to be an expert in all areas – everyone’s unique experience and expertise is valuable. We will identify “subject matter experts” in key chapter management areas such as programming, scholarship and board management that you can use as a resource. A brief training will be provided to all coaches to ensure a successful and rewarding experience. The National Board and Headquarters are also there to help out with those tough questions!
Responsibilities
- Provide mentoring and assistance to both struggling and healthy chapters
- Check in with your chapters monthly to see what questions they have or support they need.
- Help chapters understand what resources are available to them.
- Remind chapters to submit their chapter forms, including the important year-end report
- Connect chapters with other chapter leaders, national board members or headquarters, as needed.
- Be responsive to requests from your chapters.
- Report to Chapter Initiatives Committee on communications with your chapters monthly.
Time Commitment
- Between 15-20 hours a year
- No in person or phone meetings are required. You plan the interactions in a way that works best with you and your designated chapters
- A two-year term is requested to provide consistent chapter support and build connections
